Mahalakshmi: Divine Abundance

Price range: $74.00 through $112.00

A sculptural form of Mahalakshmi seated on a lotus, in Sandstone or Blush Sand finish. Designed for home mandirs, altars, and contemporary domestic spaces. Available in two sizes.

A sculptural form of Mahalakshmi — the goddess of wealth, prosperity, and auspiciousness — designed for home mandirs, altars, and contemporary domestic spaces. This Mahalakshmi murti depicts the goddess seated upon a lotus in her classical four-armed form, composed and serene, holding lotus blossoms in her upper hands and offering protection and abundance through her lower pair. It is a piece that holds a quiet centre — meant to sit in a place where prosperity, generosity, and clarity are welcomed daily.

Form & Posture

Seated gracefully upon a full-bloom lotus, the figure is upright and resolved — neither stiff nor theatrical. The four arms move outward in a balanced composition: the upper pair raised, holding lotus flowers; the lower pair extended in gestures of protection and giving. The head is set evenly above the shoulders, the gaze level and steady. The lotus base spreads beneath the figure in petals that radiate outward, anchoring the composition without competing with it. The overall silhouette holds presence without weight — verticality without strain.

Ornament & Detail

The form carries detailed ornamentation — crown, layered jewellery, and flowing garments — interpreted in clean sculptural relief rather than embellished surface. The sari falls in measured folds around the seated figure; the necklaces and waist ornaments are defined with restraint, allowing each element its own clarity. The coins flowing from the giving hand are rendered in low relief along the base. Available in two finishes: Sandstone, a warm neutral with the presence of natural stone, and Blush Sand, a softer pink-toned variant for a quieter, more contemporary register. Both finishes allow the underlying form to lead.

Mahalakshmi & the Lotus

The lotus seat is essential to the iconography — a symbol of purity, transcendence, and the unfolding of inner abundance. Lakshmi’s upper hands hold blooming lotuses, the flower repeated as both seat and attribute. One of her lower hands rests in abhaya mudra (a gesture of fearlessness and protection), while the other offers coins, signifying generosity and the flow of prosperity. The lotus, the gesture, and the giving hand together form the heart of the composition — abundance grounded in stillness, generosity flowing from a settled centre.

In the Home

This Mahalakshmi murti is at home on a puja shelf, console, home mandir, or altar — particularly suited to spaces where prosperity and auspiciousness are invoked, such as entryways, study tables, the threshold of a new home, and Diwali settings. Its compact footprint allows easy placement among books, objects, and other sacred forms. It pairs well with a small oil lamp, a brass bell, or a single fresh marigold during festival days.

Also available in a richly detailed hand-painted edition for those seeking a more traditional and vibrant presentation.

About Mahalakshmi

Mahalakshmi — known also as Lakshmi, Sri (or Shree), and Kamala (she of the lotus) — is revered as the embodiment of wealth, fortune, and spiritual abundance — the consort of Vishnu and one of the most widely honoured deities in the Hindu tradition. She is invoked especially during Diwali, at the start of new ventures, on Fridays, and on the night of Lakshmi Puja. Her form on the lotus speaks to abundance grounded in stillness — wealth understood not only as material but as inner sufficiency, generosity, and the harmonious flow of fortune through a home.
